4:00 PM Update
Thank you for your patience today as we adapted to some unplanned events surrounding anonymous threats to some of our school sites. Thanks as well to the Fremont Police Department for their support today. As stated in my earlier messages, the threats were deemed not credible. At this time, we are returning to normal distance learning operations tomorrow for all school sites/programs, August 28th. Should there be any change or significant developments you will receive additional communications.

Dear FUSD Parents/Guardians,
I am writing to inform you of an overnight/early morning development that is impacting our instructional day for Thursday, August, 27th. Late last night, we received various threats for thirteen of our school sites. The threats were anonymous and ranged from topics of bomb threats to shooting threats. We immediately contacted the Fremont Police Department, they have been working closely with us on this matter and are in the process of investigating this further. At this time, we have no indication that any of the threats are credible.
Although our schools are not open for in-person instruction, many staff members are still working from our school site each day. Out of an abundance of caution, the thirteen schools that did receive threats will keep their facilities closed to all staff today, August 27, 2020. Distance learning and remote instruction are still taking place throughout FUSD. Additionally, food service at the affected sites will be moved to alternative locations. You will be receiving additional information regarding where to pick up meals.
In consultation with Fremont Police Department, we don’t believe there is any need to adjust the operations of our other school sites. Again, there are no indications that any of the threats are credible, and our initial response has been taken only out of an abundance of caution.
I am very sorry that this undue stress is placed upon our staff, students, and community due to these issues. Thank you all for your flexibility during this time. I will provide a further communication and update later this afternoon. For your reference and review the affected sites are as follows:
Warwick Elementary
Millard Elementary
Hirsch Elementary
Warm Springs Elementary
Maloney Elementary
Patterson Elementary
Oliveira Elementary
Niles Elementary
Mission Valley Elementary
Robertson High School
Mission San Jose High School
Washington High School
Thornton Junior High School
Sincerely,
CJ Cammack

Hello FUSD Parents, Guardians, and Community,
It is my honor and privilege to welcome you to the 2020-2021 school year in Fremont Unified. The start of each school year is always an exciting time for students, staff, and families. Although we wish the circumstances surrounding the start of this school year were different, FUSD and all our staff are still incredibly excited to welcome our students and families back to school!
As you know, due to local conditions of COVID-19, Fremont Unified School District will start the school year in Distance Learning. As our first day of school, August 26th, approaches, our teachers, administrators, support staff, and classified staff have been working incredibly hard with a focus on building a robust and supportive distance learning program. I am incredibly grateful for all the hard work our staff is putting forward for our students. I look forward to seeing many of our staff and students in their virtual classrooms in the coming weeks.
During the first few weeks of this school year, I encourage you to be quick to share your appreciation and compliments for educators, support staff, classified staff, and administrators, who are courageously revamping their entire instructional programs. Be open in your praise for your child(ren) as they persevere through new experiences and adjust to the full scope of online instruction. As parents and guardians, I encourage you to give yourself compliments and grace as you also move through the process of adjusting personal and professional obligations during distance learning. As you move through the start of the year, please keep an empathetic and thoughtful understanding that this is a new experience for everyone.
As a society, we have faced so many challenges since mid-March and I am confident that one benefit of these circumstances is that our students are learning real-life problem solving skills that will serve them today, tomorrow, and well into the future. Every day, we are putting real-life problem solving and collaboration into action as we adapt to changing circumstances and overcome new challenges.
Those two words, adapt and overcome, have been a focus with my own children as they started school in distance learning this year (8th and 5th grade). As we embark on this new adventure in FUSD, imperfections will exist and areas of improvement will be identified. I am confident our staff will rise to those challenges and continually adapt their practices to best meet the needs of our students, as we collectively adapt and overcome.
As part of our new distance learning program for the start of 2020-2201 school year, in conjunction with the daily live instruction, students will be engaged in additional learning activities that continue to support their academic and social development in alignment with state content standards. Our staff will also provide structured office hours to support individualized student needs. You can view additional information regarding our distance learning program on the District website. Additional information is also available on your school’s website.
In closing, I’d like to take a moment and offer my thanks and recognition for all our firefighters and first responders who are working so hard to protect people and property from the devastating wildfires throughout the Bay Area and across California. Please join me in offering our gratitude for their hard work and bravery.
Sincerely,
CJ Cammack
Superintendent
Hello,
Now that school office staff has returned from summer break, they will be the ones to assist you. Most are working from home, so email is still the best method of communication. For your convenience, we have created a list of the school contacts. Please email your student’s school staff directly.
Thank you for your patience.

Hola,
